Eastern Feng Shui: Three Most Important Features of Home-kitchen(1)

In old time, Chinese believe kitchen is one of the three most important features of a home. The stove is the specific part of kitchen affect human life?In Feng shui belief, it represents wealth, bounty, and fruits of your labor. And also it is tied with house member’s health. How does the stove function to improve people life? The main concern is the placement of stove. By applying Feng shui concept on stove placement, it is necessary to consider the Gua or Chi it belongs to. Here, Gua means to generate energy in term of house direction. Besides of consider house direction, the year of birth of house owner is one of the aspect to consider.

In fact, the space limitation of modern houses does not allow us to have more alternative to place stove. Feng shui practitioners have to put up with this limitation when apply their Feng shui rules. Moreover, today modern kitchen is different from traditional style. Look at development history of stove in China, handmade traditional stove was used in majority household. Even now in China rural area, hand build stove are still the main stove. Handmade stove unlike modern stove we using now, traditional Chinese stove occupy a lot of space and it built on the ground. Build stove in household is a serious matter in old time. An auspicious date is chosen to build stove to ensure everything is going smooth. Handmade stove is not removable, so the position of stove is permanent. Due to stove its size is big and attach to ground, bear in mind, Feng shui define Chi as an energy flowing along landform, no doubt handmade stove is considered a very important component of Feng Shui.

Compare to modern stove, modern stove is not attach to ground and its size is smaller than handmade stove, I wonder how it is going to influence Chi? Moreover firewood is the main energy resource for handmade stove, since Feng shui manipulate five elements theory, traditional stove is considered as fire element at once. Today we can see electric Hot Plate stove and gas stove is used in household, if Feng shui practitioner insists to consider stove as one of the Feng Shui component, I wonder how do we consider Electric Hot plate facing direction? And what is the element of modern stove belongs to? Many Feng shui writers are not understand what is the principle for Chinese concern stove as a part of Feng shui, they just keep relate stove to abundance of food, saying food as a indicator of wealth and generosity. After all, it's human nature to associate food and nutrition with nurturing and sustenance.

Though traditional stove is different, Feng Shui practitioner can base on traditional Feng Shui remedy to make modification, so that compatible to modern lifestyle. Here I provide some tips for kitchen Design:

1. Kitchen should be light and airy.

2. Stove should not be seen from main entrance

3. Do not place stove at the center of house

4. If the stove is placed on ground floor, on the second floor,

do not place bed in the same Gua section as stove located.

5. Avoid to place stove under beam.

6. Drainage system under stove bring bad luck to health and financial.
